ESSP’s core business is the provision of Pan-European space-based Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) services. As a multi-service CNS provider, we operate complex space-based systems and deliver critical services under strict regulatory conditions.
ESSP owns an Air Navigation Service Provider (ANSP) certificate. It was the first organisation to own a Pan-European certificate allowing the cross-border delivery of Air Traffic Management services.

ESSP is the EGNOS Service Provider. The European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS) is Europe's regional satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) used to improve the performance of global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs).
EGNOS provides corrections and integrity information to GPS signals over a broad area centred over Europe and is fully interoperable with other existing SBAS systems.
EGNOS provides four services:
EGNOS Open Service (OS), available since 2009, aims to improve achievable positioning accuracy by correcting various error sources affecting GPS signals.
EGNOS Safety of Life (SoL) for Aviation, available since 2011, provides the highest signal-in-space performance, supporting civil aviation operations down to Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV) minima.
EGNOS Data Access Service (EDAS), available since 2012, is the EGNOS terrestrial data service and offers ground-based access to EGNOS data in real time.
EGNOS SoL assisted service for Maritime Users (ESMAS), available since 2024, provides a GPS augmentation service to enable maritime navigation for SOLAS operations.
